Autofocus 5

brings us to number 5 – not just visual art, not just Italy

Off we go with the 5th edition of the VANNI-sponsored, GAI-patronised, competition to promote young artists, this year also open to European artists and designers.

There’s a novelty – two, to be precise – as the fifth edition of VANNI eyewear’s art competition gets under way. The new call includes young European, and not just Italian artists, and its scope extends from the visual arts to include design creativity as a free expression of artistic talent.

Promoted under the aegis of GAI – Association for the Young Italian Artist Circuit -, the competition targets artists and now designers coming from any of the EU countries, aged between 18 and 35. In past years the competition attracted a first-rate range of projects and gave the palm to Federica Gonnelli, Giulia Bonora, Francesco Fossati and Cosimo Veneziano.

The competition consists in devising an exhibition project to fit the VANNI eyewear exhibition space in Turin. The winning entry to be exhibited during contemporary art week in November 2013. The award takes the form of a purchase and production of a catalogue. The young winner will be invited to Turin for the vernissage of her/his show. There is extreme freedom of expression in the Autofocus5 theme which extends to cover the universe contained in the artist’s eye, a personal world, vision, dimension.

Enrolment on the VANNI website and entries on CD-ROM by 9th August 2013.
