presents

IN/OUT ::  one workshop and a laboratory of ideas for new models of artstic migration

The Residences offer the chance for artists to deepen their practice away from the usual, within communities full of new stimuli and different social and cultural contexts. A wide range of organizations and cultural associations, public and private, as well as institutions of higher education offer today, with varying degrees of utility and different levels of professionalism, opportunities for artists to carry out job-training experiences.

Addressing the issue of “artists in residencies” (AIR) today means to contextualize them in a cultural sense, in a contemporary environment radically changed, where the old geopolitical and ideological divisions have given way to the reality of the globalized world and its dynamics on a large scale.

What are the main types of artist residencies? What is the situation in Italy? How getting around on the international scene? What are the current migratory trends in art and how you configure the mobility of artists for a sustainable future?

One day of meetings and discussions to reflect on, evaluate the requests and prepare proposals with the participation of stakeholders and actors of the contemporary art system.

The program will consist of two sessions with experts and good practices, curators and Italian artists to create a dialogue with and among the participants while providing useful information to participate in the applications.

An appointment promoted by GAI - Association for the Circuit of the Young Italian Artists under the European cooperation project ON-AIR. The debates are organized in collaboration with FARE, Fitzcarraldo Foundation Onlus and Seat Pagine Gialle. The conference and the workshop will take place during ContemporaryArt Torino Piemonte. With the participation of Artissima 18.
