L’ARTE CONTEMPORANEA VA IN CITTÀ (CONTEMPORARY ART IN THE CITY)

The Municipality of Ferrara for years now has been organising exhibitions by young artists in the city’s exhibition areas and in settings unrelated to museums. The project L’Arte Contemporanea va in città (Contemporary Art in the city) aims at setting up a system of exhibition areas in the urban fabric for the young artists of visual arts working in Italy. This will be at the same time an opportunity for artistic and professional growth for young Italian artists who already excel from the point of view of work quality but did not have the chance yet to be fully engaged in an exhibition with an institutional background.

The main space selected is the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea (PAC), (Contemporary Art Pavilion), one of the most prestigious spaces on a national level for research in the field of visual arts. Over and above that, from time to time other urban, architectural and social settings in Ferrara old town will be identified to plan the production and installation of site specific art works, with the involvement of other expressive tools as well (music and performance).

The project envisages setting up in 2008 and 2009 some exhibition events involving selected young artists related to the GAI network.
