The opportunities for mobility and more specifically the programmes called artist-in-residence (AIR), have gained importance as a fundamental part of an artist’s creative development and professional career. Mobility gives artists the opportunity to compare their creative progress with their peers from different countries and cultures, to build and increase their professional network. As residency programmes are an integral part of the local cultural and social systems, they also warrant the circulation of ideas and works among a wide and diverse audience, while promoting at the same time the connection with the art market.
