Sandro Mungianu
Sandro Mungianu (1988, Cagliari) is an italian composer of experimental music and soundtracks.
His first experiences with music were from private piano teacher, Silvia Corda, at the age of six. He attended high school Siotto Pintor, music curriculum, were he started studying clarinet with Alessandro Travaglini and sax with Pietro Tagliaferri. At that time he performed as a solist or by classical quartet ensemble in Cagliari and in Carloforte for the Summer Festival.
In 2008, after several collaborations in classical and jazz ensembles, he discovered electronic music and became fascinated with non-standard use of musical instruments, so decided to improve his composition competence in the course of New Music Tecnology, at the State Conservatory of Music Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, in Cagliari. Elio Martusciello and Fabrizio Casti introduced him to ectroacoustic and contemporary music. In 2009, Ornella D'agostino, a choreographer of contemporary dance, encouraged him to compose for live performaces. He started to compose and play for her dance and realtime videos and performed for Time In Jazz Festival in Berchidda and for Paesaggi Interrotti tour (Cornwall, Dartington, many cities in Sardinia), composing and playing original music and working as video artist.
In 2010 he graduated in Elctroacustic Music Composition. His degree thesis was about "Robotic in Music To Exceed Human Potential". He built and developed several robotic instruments (Iperviolin, Iperpiano, Ipersax, Iperclarinet...) to improve musicians abilities.
He actually composes soundtracks, but also plays woodwinds, live electronics and produces videos for multimedia performances. He plays in the trio “Terminale 3” from 2006, with Salo Sallo and Filippo Mereu. Terminale 3 it's not only a music trio but overall an open project for musicians and artists. They performed for MoveTheBox in Villaverde, Miniere Sonore in Oristano, other festivals of contemporary music and in several underground contexts.
Presently he is improving his studies in Composition, Electroacoustic Music, Audiovisual, Live Multimedia Performance, Installation, with Elio Martusciello and Fabrizio Casti, at the State Conservatory of Music G. Pierluigi da Palestrina.
