Stefania Spanu, 43 anni, di Sorso.
Dopo il diploma in “Arte del Tessuto” consegue la laurea in “Pittura” all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Sassari; in seguito approfondisce lo studio e la pratica delle tecniche tradizionali in aziende tessili sarde prendendo parte a laboratori di tessitura tenuti da designer internazionali e artigiani locali.
Dopo gli anni della formazione, improntati alla tradizione artigianale tradizionale sia per quel che riguarda la progettazione del disegno che la realizzazione del manufatto, con l’uso del telaio orizzontale, di quello verticale e con lo studio della tecnica di tintura naturale della lana, spinta costantemente da questa passione coniuga tradizione e innovazione, dando una nuova dimensione al filo cambiando la funzione dei manufatti. L’obiettivo è continuare a percorrere il solco della tradizione, e al contempo reinterpretarla in chiave moderna ponendola di fronte alle nuove influenze.
Dal 2013 si misura con la creazione di installazioni artistiche in spazi pubblici, all’aperto o all’interno di edifici, realizzando opere site-specific.
Ha partecipato a vari programmi di residenze d’artista e ha al suo attivo diverse mostre in musei e gallerie in Italia e all’estero.
Collabora come designer di manufatti tessili con un marchio di artigianato sardo, con quale ha vinto il premio “Carpet design awards 2023” come “Best design studio artist rugs” con il tappeto “Omaggio a Maria Lai”, alla fiera Domotex di Hannover, Germania.

After graduating in "Art of Fabric" he graduated in "Painting" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari; later she deepened the study and practice of traditional techniques in Sardinian textile companies by taking part in weaving workshops held by international designers and local artisans.
After the years of training, marked by the traditional artisan tradition both as regards the design of the design and the realization of the product, with the use of the horizontal loom, the vertical one and with the study of the natural dyeing technique of the wool, pushed constantly from this passion combines tradition and innovation, giving a new dimension to the thread by changing the function of the products. The goal is to continue following the path of tradition, and at the same time reinterpreting it in a modern key by placing it in front of new influences.
Since 2013 he has been measuring himself with the creation of artistic installations in public spaces, outdoors or inside buildings, creating site-specific works.
He has participated in various artist residency programs and has to his credit several exhibitions in museums and galleries in Italy and abroad.
He collaborates as a designer of textile products with a Sardinian handicraft brand, with which he won the "Carpet design awards 2023" as "Best design studio artist rugs" with the "Omaggio a Maria Lai" carpet, at the Domotex fair in Hannover, Germany.
