Gestos

is a conceptual and somatic piece that investigates the intercultural, emotional and aesthetic value of hand gestures. For this performance, I have generated a creative movement vocabulary based on ethnographic evidences about the different meanings of hand gestures.

Considering that gestures do not only express but also generate emotions, I have explored the subjective consequences of their embodiment. The performance includes four pieces of visual art produced in the attempt to objectify and externalize the narrativity of each of the gestures selected.
